[Decisions, Decisions!!]

I often think I need to write a book called "Emails to my Clients". Here's one of the latest entries. This was in response to a celebratory email, telling me about a HUGE step (one of MANY) she's made!!

Her email also included an expression of frustration with not having a "final decision" yet. Here's my take...

"WOOHOOO!!!! Way to GO!!!!

You're being honest, in integrity, and also not putting someone else's desires above your own or your priorities. There's NOTHING wrong with that, and everything RIGHT with that. Especially as women, this is a muscle very much in need of strengthening.

Right now, you're facing what I call a "non-decision". That means, you've got options, possibilities, potentials - but no true decision to be made yet. You're in the information gathering phase, the exploratory phase, the wondering phase - not the decision making phase. It's not time for that yet. The work right now is to hold wide open space for the not-knowing. You can't know yet. Your energy is most powerfully directed at imagining, feeling into, being curious about, exploring, etc. - not trying to 'figure it out'. Make sense??

Gather first. Decide later. Doing them at the same time is like trying to put together a blank puzzle. You'll expend a ton of energy that has no productive place to go yet.

Decision by it's very definition involves elimination of possibilities. You're still accumulating possibilities, don't count any out yet. In the context of new information, something that seems non-workable, or less than ideal, may click into place and become the perfect compliment.

You won't have a "final decision" until someone, or a few someones, has actually offered you a contract. Until then, try to let go of the urge to cull the options. It's just not the right focus, right now.

If you're wrestling with a "decision", consider where you actually are in the process. Is it truly time to de-cide? Or are you still gathering the pieces? Knowing this is a next-level ninja skill and will make all the difference, dearest ones.

And, if this feels like a really BIG decision, not one you want to navigate alone, consider hiring a coach who intimately understands the anatomy of decision and transition. None of us can navigate these big ones all alone.
